THE CRITERIA:
The UC Davis 20 Point System evaluates wine on its own merits, looking at the following criteria and assigning the following points value:

โข Color โ 2 points
โข Bouquet โ 4 points
โข Total Acidity โ 1 point
โข Sweetness โ 1 point
โข Body/Texture โ 2 points
โข Flavor/Taste โ 2 points
โข Bitterness โ 1 point
โข Finish โ 1 point
โข Quality โ 4 points
We tallied each judgeโs evaluation sheet, came up with an average and placed each in one of four categories:
โข Platinum – 80 percent or higher
โข Gold – 65โ79 percent
โข Silver – 50โ64 percent
โข Bronze – 49 percent or lower
