Stafford County Librarian, Nathan Sekinger, has found a way to make re-usable Montana Masks with the Stafford County schools’ 3D printers. The Montana Mask can be sanitized and filters can be quickly replaced, they can also be molded to your face for an effective seal passing fit tests; making it much more beneficial than a cloth sewn mask. For the last month Nathan and his wife have had the printers running 24.7, producing hundreds of protective pieces for local health care workers on the front lines. Because the masks are plastic, they can be cleaned and re-used. Long term care facilities have risen to the top of the necessity list housing the most vulnerable population.
Potomac Point Winery’s owner, Cindi Causey, comes from an Emergency Medical background and has been deployed to help our regions Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) with planning and training. She is seeing first hand that our local area is still suffering from a very large shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks; so when she came across Mr. Sekinger’s operation, she knew she had to help. Cindi & Skip Causey have donated personally to the cause and are hoping to raise more money for this wonderful family to continue to make these masks. Additionally, they are in need of assembly hands. Once the printer’s job is done, it takes some manpower to physically assemble the mask together. Our goal is to create 900 masks plus face shields for our local area, to do that we are in need of donations to purchase more supplies, such as:
- Clorox Wipes/Disinfectant
- Sterile Gloves
- Plastic Bags: Snack size for filters, Quart size for mask, Gallon size to triple bag filters and include a flyer that includes directions
- 1/4 Rubber Window Seal – 18 inches per mask
- 1/4 Inch Sewing Elastic- 24 inches per mask
- 3D Filament: Amazon Wish List
If you are interested and able to donate your time to assemble, please sign-up here and we will reach out with specific dates & times. Assembly will take place at Potomac Point Winery. If you are able to donate supplies, you can drop off the above items at Potomac Point winery as well.
