There is nothing quite like a crisp glass of wine enjoyed amidst the rolling beauty of our estate. At Potomac Point, we invite you to immerse yourself in a European-inspired escape by enjoying our dedicated picnic grounds. To ensure a wonderful experience for all our guests, please review our guide to picnicking on the property.
Where to Settle In
Our grounds offer several picturesque locations to relax and unwind. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis:
- Chianti’s Corner: A charming area amongst the vines always open for public enjoyment.
- The Picnic Pavilion: A spacious, covered retreat (available when not reserved for private events).
- Merlot Meadow: Our expansive meadow, perfect for a classic blanket-style picnic (open on select days and weather permitting).
Provisions for Your Pairing
While you are welcome to bring your own picnic basket to these specific outdoor locations, we offer a curated selection of artisanal snacks at our Tasting Room front desk. Enhance your afternoon with our variety of hand-selected cheeses & charcuterie, gourmet crackers & sweet treats, and of course award-winning Potomac Point Wines.
Picnic Etiquette & Policies
To maintain the beauty of our estate and ensure a premium experience for every visitor, we kindly ask that you observe the following guidelines:
- Support Local: Potomac Point is a family-owned estate, not a public park. We require that guests enjoying our grounds purchase wine and picnic provisions from our Tasting Room. This support allows us to maintain our beautiful landscape and provide service to all who visit.
- Large Groups & Space: We love hosting your celebrations! For groups of 12 or fewer, you are welcome to walk in and find a spot. However, out of respect for all our guests and to ensure we can provide adequate service, we do not permit walk-in groups of 13 or more to set up in public picnic areas.
- Planning a larger gathering? For groups of 20 +, we require the rental of a private event space. This ensures your party has a dedicated home base and allows our public areas to remain accessible to everyone.
- Alcohol & Food Regulations: * Strictly No Outside Alcohol: Per Virginia ABC law, outside alcohol of any kind (including beer or wine from other labels) is strictly prohibited on-site.
- Outside Food: Outside food is permitted only in the designated picnic areas (Picnic Pavilion, Chianti’s Corner, and Merlot Meadow). No outside food is allowed in the Tasting Room, courtyard, veranda, patio, or interior spaces.
- Commensurate Support: We ask that wine purchases reflect the size of your party. For example, a single bottle of wine for a group of 6+ does not cover the staffing and maintenance required to host large groups. We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep the winery sustainable and enjoyable.
We look forward to seeing you on the grounds soon! If you have any questions, please email reservations@potomacpointwinery.com
